A word on Epsom salt

The first time I got rescued by Epsom salt; I wasn’t sure what hit me.  I bent over, tried to stand straight, like cement, I could not move.  I use all my will power to get back up; the pain was excruciating and new to me.  I did ok as long as I remain upright, an entire different story the other way.

Later that evening I called the trainer to discuss this pain, since we worked together only one or two days before. He immediately recommended that I soaked myself in Epsom salt; I agreed obediently.  Fifteen to twenty minutes later into it: a miracle- I turned in the tub like it was normal.  I turned again, left right, right left; I kept on turning for the next 45 minutes. I stood up walked out the bathroom.

Fast forward 12 years; I developed extreme ache in my right knee; I am held prisoner in my own body. I missed my train just because I could not walk. My knee got very swollen; at the end of the day, a stranger lent me his arm. I rested, applied ice etc.; the next day someone again reminded me again of Epsom salt.  Yes I use it. Oh My God! It worked. I adopted a daily schedule of Epsom salt and made it a staple in my recovery and potential maintenance.

So in my experience, Epsom salt worked as pain relief after an injury, and erase potential soreness if done preemptively. This is true for me because the few times I choose to bike more than 40 miles, I bathed in Epsom salt one or two days prior to the ride and my muscles stay awake and warm.

Over the next few days, I abstain from physical exercise except for swimming and use of the turning water. One can only wish for a year round of Oceanic water

I purposely did not include any reference or made any allusion to its mechanism. This provides the reader the opportunity to further read on its composition, or maybe discover the power of magnesium sulfate; the ingredients put together to make Epsom salt.
